Six specialisms to build, consolidate, waterproof and restore tunnels and infrastructure, with our own crews and equipment.

Specialist scarification and milling
01 / 06

Specialist scarification and milling

Controlled removal of deteriorated concrete from sidewall and crown linings, with minimal vibration and depths ranging from a few centimetres to over 50 cm. We then rebuild the final lining: render, structural sprayed concrete or full reconstruction of the reinforced concrete crown.

  • Mechanical milling of tunnel linings
  • Demolition with remote-controlled robots (Brokk)
  • Skimming and surface repairs
  • Reconstruction with sprayed concrete or cast-in-place RC
  • Existing road, motorway and railway tunnels

What is specialist scarification?

It is the removal of the degraded concrete layer of an existing tunnel, carried out with dedicated machines that limit vibration on the structure, before the lining is rebuilt.

Waterproofing
02 / 06

Waterproofing

We waterproof underground and above-ground reinforced concrete structures with PVC membranes bonded to non-woven geotextile, to project specifications, together with drainage pipes that protect the works from natural water ingress.

  • Bored and cut-and-cover tunnels
  • Roofs, tanks and box culverts
  • Trenches and earth-retaining structures
  • PVC and non-woven membranes, geocomposites
  • Drainage pipes and water collection

Why waterproof a tunnel?

To stop groundwater ingress, which degrades the lining and services: the membrane laid between primary support and final lining, together with drainage, protects the structure throughout its service life.

Tunnels and shafts
03 / 06

Tunnels and shafts

We build tunnels using conventional methods, from primary support to final linings, as well as foundation, drainage and service shafts, adits, cross-passages and emergency exits for road, motorway, railway and hydraulic infrastructure.

  • Conventional excavation (NATM)
  • Steel ribs and primary sprayed concrete
  • Final reinforced concrete linings
  • Foundation and drainage shafts
  • Adits, cross-passages and emergency exits

What is conventional tunnelling?

It is staged tunnel excavation using machinery such as excavators, breakers and drilling jumbos, with immediate support from steel ribs and sprayed concrete. It is the alternative to mechanised TBM excavation.

Reinforced concrete works
04 / 06

Reinforced concrete works

Reinforced concrete works for infrastructure and civil and industrial buildings: tunnel linings, cut-and-cover tunnels, portals, trenches, kerbs, decks and precast slabs. We use variable-radius formwork designed and patented by the group, and overhead systems for safe rebar placement.

  • Linings with patented variable-radius formwork
  • Cut-and-cover tunnels and portals
  • Trenches and retaining structures
  • Precast slabs and decks
  • Reinforcement with overhead rebar handling

What is variable-radius formwork?

Formwork systems that adapt to different vault sizes without rebuilding the equipment, cutting time and cost when the tunnel section changes along the alignment.

Ground consolidation
05 / 06

Ground consolidation

Ground consolidation and improvement to secure tunnels, portals and slopes: retaining walls, deep foundations, anchors, radial drilling and crack stitching in existing linings.

  • Retaining walls
  • Deep foundations
  • Anchors, tiebacks and rock bolts
  • Radial drilling
  • Crack stitching in linings

When is consolidation needed?

When the surrounding ground cannot guarantee stability on its own: ahead of excavation, at portals, on slopes or in existing tunnels showing cracks.

Earthworks
06 / 06

Earthworks

Excavation, haulage, embankments and trenches with our own fleet, including management of spoil and non-hazardous waste in line with environmental regulations and our ISO 14001 certified system.

  • Excavation and bulk earthworks
  • Haulage with our own trucks
  • Embankments and trenches
  • Non-hazardous waste management

Rental

Just need the equipment?

We offer wet and dry hire of the same specialist machines we use on our own sites, including ATEX units.
